Join the Cultural Advisory Board at the University of Leeds!

Are you a current University of Leeds student with a passion for culture and the arts? Want to help shape how the University of Leeds thinks about creativity and culture?

The Cultural Institute is seeking applications from current students to the new Cultural Advisory Board. This is a new platform to make your voice be heard, and influence what culture on campus can look like for years to come – while engaging with like-minded peers and developing vital leadership skills.

Whether you are an activist, performance maker, sculptor or cultural event manager; whether you’re passionate about hip-hop or classical arts; making work with communities; art-house movies, Bharatnatyam, crocheting or spoken word, this opportunity is open to students from all disciplines and all levels.

What will you do?

We are seeking students to join an inclusive and dynamic advisory board that reflects the vibrant tapestry of our student body. As a member of our advisory board, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Shape the Future: Contribute your ideas and insights to help us create a cultural strategy and a programme of activity that resonates with our diverse student community
  • Engage in Meaningful Dialogue: Collaborate with university staff, artists, and other likeminded students to foster thoughtful discussions on culture and its impact for students
  • Develop Leadership Skills: Hone your leadership abilities by reviewing and responding to high-level strategic documents, and communicating your thoughts and opinions to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Expand Your Network: Connect with like-minded students, artists, and professionals, building valuable relationships that will benefit you beyond your university years

See our Sway for more information

Benefits of Joining

  • Receive a £25 voucher each time you participate, plus an extra £10 voucher for preparatory work
  • Gain valuable experience in strategic thinking, leadership, and collaboration
  • Showcase your leadership, creativity, and networking skills
  • Attend cultural events, industry forums, and networking opportunities throughout the year

How to Apply:

Submit a brief statement (250-300 words) via the online form by Wed 8 November, 11:59pm. Share your passion, background, views on cultural participation, and ideas for enhancing University of Leeds’s cultural offerings.
